Over the past couple days, Disney made what most non-Disney-obsessed people might assume was a small and insignificant change.\u00c2\u00a0 They’ve decided that the merry-go-round in the Magic Kingdom will get a new name.\u00c2\u00a0 It is no longer “Cinderella’s Golden Carousel”.\u00c2\u00a0 As of June 1, it will now be known as “Prince Charming Carousel”.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 That’s it.\u00c2\u00a0 Nothing else is changing about the attraction.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s not getting longer or shorter, they’re not redecorating, they’re not adding or removing characters or horses.\u00c2\u00a0 It’s not even getting a new paint job.\u00c2\u00a0 Just a change in name.\u00c2\u00a0 Nothing else.\u00c2\u00a0 So, who cares, right?<\/p>\n
Wow.\u00c2\u00a0 The Disney nutcases care, that’s who.\u00c2\u00a0 Take a look at the comments on the Disney Parks blog<\/a> and the Facebook page<\/a>. People are going batshit insane about it.\u00c2\u00a0 “Terrible decision, don’t change the name please!” “WHYYYYYY?” “Maybe they’ll get the message if we all boycot the ride!!”.\u00c2\u00a0 Seriously, this is what people are saying.\u00c2\u00a0 Because of a name change.<\/p>\n So the next time you get annoyed at me for ranting or raving about some minute detail of my Disney obsession, please keep in mind:\u00c2\u00a0 I could be much, MUCH worse.<\/p>\n
